Francais - 3 hours
Started a new class - I think I will really like it. It cost more than I'd prefer to pay (in addition to being lazy I'm kind of cheap, which is probably a good thing) but I think it will be a good way for me to really improve. We got homework and I definitely have some new vocabulary to study, and some grammar that I need to review.
I suppose I could mention here that I have been studying French since high school, which was a long time ago, but I let it fall by the wayside and get really embarrassingly rusty. I'd like to someday achieve fluency, and that only comes with - you guessed it - working on it! So French is a big part of my 10,000 hours project.
Cumulative total(s):
Francais - 3 hours
Other skills will join this list as I progress in this project, but this is it for today.

In which a lazy procrastinator attempts to throw off the shackles of sloth and stop wasting so much time
I read somewhere that it takes 10,000 hours to master any skill. I waste WAY too much time every day, and I have a lot of things I'd like to master - or at least attempt to master. Or at least improve somewhat. I tend to be hopelessly lazy, and I have a terrible tendency to procrastinate and waste time, losing precious hour after precious hour to time-wasting when I could be working toward mastering one or more of these things. This blog is my attempt to keep myself on track.
In this blog, I will keep track of how much time I spend each day working toward a productive goal, as well as a cumulative total I will carry forward, so I can easily see at a glance how much time I have invested in mastery rather than wasting it surfing the Internet or whatever. In some cases, such as studying French, I have already put in many hours over many years, but of course there is no way to go back in time and calculate how much time I have spent working on it, so I will simply start counting today.
It is my hope that keeping myself accountable will lead to real progress and help me stop wasting so much of what is left of my life. And maybe I will even really master something - wouldn't that be amazing!
